President's Message

There have been a number of special events in April and May at the Bar Association.  On April 25th, we were honored to be able to welcome Chief Justice Ronald Castille of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to Delaware County.  The Chief Justice joined President Judge Chad Kenney and members of the Bench and presented a CLE on the state of Pennsylvania courts.  The George B. Lindsay Foundation sponsored this event

The Bench and Bar Association celebrated Law Day on May 3rd.  We had record attendance at the morning and afternoon ceremonies.  The recipient of the Themis Award was Linda Barbera, Administrator of Treatment Court; Gene Foehl, Esquire, received the Elizabeth C. Price Award; and the Liberty Bell Award was given to Candice Linehan of Women Against Rape.

Remember that on June 5, 6, and 7, 2013, our annual Bench Bar Conference will be held at Skytop Lodge in the Pocono Mountains.  This is a great opportunity to network with members of the judiciary and other attorneys while earning 12 CLE credits.  For information about cost and registration, please click HERE.

It is with great sadness that we would like to inform the DCBA membership of the passing of Bruce E. Rodger.  Bruce was a dedicated member of the DCBA, and he served as President of the Association in 2010.  A "Celebration of Life" service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 109 East Doe Run Road, Unionville.  (The website for the church is http://stmichaelpa.com).  In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to support melanoma research at the University of Pennsylvania's Abramson Cancer Center, Penn Medicine Department, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA  19104.

2013 BENCH BAR CONFERENCE REGISTRATION

The 2013 Bench Bar Conference will be held from June 5th-7th at Skytop Lodge in the Poconos.  You can find out more about the conference and how to register by CLICKING HERE.  Because of the great response from the membership, Skytop Lodge is sold out on Wednesday night.  However, there are still rooms available for Thursday evening, and Skytop has created a wait list for rooms on Wednesday night.  There are also rooms available on Wednesday at the Frogtown Inn, which is a short distance from Skytop.  There will be shuttle service available for members who stay at the Inn.  For more information about the Frogtown Inn, please click HERE.

Chief Justice Castille Lecture

President Judge Chad F. Kenney and DCBA Board President Lyn B. Schoenfeld welcomed Pennsylvania Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald D. Castille to Delaware County on April 25, 2013.  The Chief Justice spoke on the state of the Pennsylvania Courts to over 130 DCBA members.  A wine and cheese reception followed.  The visit of the Chief Justice was sponsored by the George B. Lindsay Founcation.
