President's Message

The DCBA held its 41st Annual Bench Bar Conference from June 5-7, 2013, at Skytop Lodge.  This year's event offered some great CLE programs, and over 140 members and judges attended.  Next year's Bench Bar Conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort in Cambridge, Maryland from June 3-5, 2014.

During the summer months, although there may be fewer CLE programs and other activities at the Bar Building, I want you to know that the Board and staff of the DCBA will be working on important initiatives to benefit our membership.  Some of these initiatives are:

  • on-going review of the DCBA By-Laws and drafting of recommendations for revisions
  • testing and implementation of a new database system which will interface with the DCBA website, allowing members to pay dues and other fees on-line
  • making preliminary preparations for developing a long-term strategic plan for the DCBA

I hope that you enjoy your summer.  Please continue to look for news and information about Bar Association events on this page throughout June, July and August.

It is with great sadness that we would like to inform the DCBA membership of the passing of Bruce E. Rodger.  Bruce was a dedicated member of the DCBA, and he served as President of the Association in 2010.   In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to support melanoma research at the University of Pennsylvania's Abramson Cancer Center, Penn Medicine Department, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA  19104.
