Message from the President
Summer is fast arriving as is the registration deadline to attend the upcoming Delaware County Bar Association Bench-Bar Conference to be held June 6,7,8, 2012 at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay and Golf Resort, Spa & Marina in Cambridge, Maryland. For the first time you will be able to obtain 12 CLE credits, which will satisfy your annual obligation. Come and enjoy the amenities this Resort has to offer (golf, tennis, pool, water sports, shopping and more) as well as the opportunity to socialize with fellow members of the Bar as well as members of the Bench. The rooms are approximately 80% sold out so please act fast.
The DCBA is in the process of expanding the present “Mentoring Program”. If anyone would like to serve as a Mentor to a new or younger member of the Bar, please get in touch with me.

Do you know who serves on the Board of Driectors? Last month we profiled two of our members. Meet two more.
M. Shannon Moore serves as a Director on the Delaware County Bar Association with term expiring in December, 2012. Shannon practices law in the fields of special education, employment law, and civil litigation at the law firm of Gallagher, Schoenfeld, Surkin, Chupein & DeMis, P.C. in Media, PA. Shannon graduated from the Pennsylvania
State University and Widener University School of Law. Shannon is the President of the Guy G. DeFuria American Inn of Court, and served as the President of the Young Lawyers Section of the Delaware County Bar Association. Shannon was awarded the Nicholas D. Vadino, Jr. Memorial Award by the Delaware County Bar Association in June, 2006.
Chip Mackrides is the principal of the law firm of Mackrides Associates and has been practicing law in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, for more than Thirty (30) years. He received his B.S. in Accounting from Villanova University and his J.D. from Loyola University of Law, New Orleans, Louisiana. His practice concentrates in the areas of Real Estate, Estate Administration and Planning, Business Law and Injury Law, although he has had
experience in almost every area of the law. He is a trained and experienced Mediator and Arbitrator, having served as an arbitrator for over 29 years. He has lectured on various legal topics for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Delaware County Bar Association, the National Law Foundation and the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce; and has appeared on television and radio as a presenter. He is the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section. He has served as Vice-Chairman of the Real Estate Practices Committee, a joint committee of the Delaware County Bar Association and Delaware Valley Association of Realtors.

In Vino Veritas: Join the DCBA on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, for our first "wine tasting/CLE event". There will be 8 varietals of American wines to sample along with hors d'oeuvres and a CLE program on LCB regulations.
